Bangga Kencana and PPS Program Coordination Forum in 2024

Head of BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Riau Province, Darwis Sitorus, was present as a resource person at the Coordination Forum for the Bangga Kencana Program (Family Development, Population and Family Planning) and PPS (Acceleration of Stunting Reduction) in 2024 which was organized by Representatives of the National Population and Family Planning Agency (BKKBN) Kepulauan Riau Province at Aston Batam Hotel and Residence, Batam City (3/4). The activity, with the theme "Optimizing Demographic Bonuses and Increasing Human Resources Towards a Golden Indonesia 2045", was held in order to increase synergy and collaboration between stakeholders at the central, provincial and district/city government levels as well as partners in accelerating the achievement of the Bangga Kencana and Acceleration Program Targets Reducing Stunting in Kepulauan Riau Province.

On this occasion, the Head of BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Riau Province explained material related to the demographic bonus and reducing stunting. He said that BPS-Statistics as a provider of population data has carried out the 2020 Long Form Population Census in 2022 which is one of the inputs in producing the 2020 - 2035 Population Projections. The results of the Population Projections will produce the number and age structure of the population which can describe the population situation in the next 15 years. This can provide an idea of when the demographic bonus occurs and when the demographic bonus era ends in a region, making it easier for the government to take policies to welcome the demographic bonus era.

Based on projection results, the population of productive age (15-64 years) dominates the population structure of Kepulauan Riau Province until 2050, which shows the large opportunity for a Demographic Bonus. A well-managed demographic bonus can provide economic benefits for a region towards economic equality which can reduce the level of poverty in society. Poverty itself is one of the factors that influences the occurrence of stunting cases in Indonesia in relation to family welfare.
