The percentage of Poor Population in Kepulauan Riau Province in September 2019 reached 5.80 percent

In September 2019, the number of poor people (population with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Kepulauan Riau Province reached 127,758 people (5.80 percent), a decrease of 704 compared to March 2019 which was 128,462 people (5,90 percent).

The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2019 was 5.33 percent, down to 5.26 percent in September 2019. While the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2019 was 11.04 percent, decreased to 10.67 percent in September 2019.

During the March 2019-September 2019 period, the number of poor people in urban areas rose from 104,207 in March 2019 to 104,234 in September 2019, while in rural areas it decreased from 24,254 in March 2019 to 23,524 in September 2019.

The role of food commodities towards the Poverty Line is far greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in September 2019 was recorded at 66.45 percent. This condition is not much different from the condition in March 2019 which is 66.66 percent.
