Abstract

IDI is a composite indicator that shows the level of development of democracy in Indonesia. The level of achievement is measured based on the implementation and development of three aspects of democracy, namely Civil Freedom, Political Rights and the Institution of Democracy.

The IDI calculation methodology uses 4 data sources, namely: (1) local newspaper review, (2) document review (Perda, Pergub, etc.), (3) Focus Group Discussion (FGD), and (4) in-depth interviews.

The Indonesian Democracy Index (IDI) of Kepulauan Riau Province in 2019 was 81.64 on a scale of 0 to 100. This figure rose 2.45 points compared to the 2018 IDI of 79.19. The performance of democracy in Kepulauan Riau Province is in the "good" category. The level of democracy is grouped into three categories namely "good" (index> 80), "moderate" (index 60-80), and "bad" (index <60).

The change in IDI from 2018-2019 was influenced by three aspects of democracy namely Civil Liberties rose 1.61 points (from 91.05 to 92.66), Political Rights which rose 0.76 points (from 77.54 to 78.30) and Democratic Institutions rose 6.20 (from 66.90 to 73.10)
