Abstract

Number of Population classified as economically active in August 2020 was 1,133,776 people, increase of 64,802 people compared to August 2019. In line with the increase in the number of the workforce, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 1.59 percentage points.
Unemployment rate (TPT) for August 2020 was 10.34 percent, an increase of 2.84 percentage points compared to August 2019.
The total working population of 1,016,600 people, an increase of 27,783 people from August 2019. Employment that experienced an increase in the percentage of the working population, especially in Agriculture (1.39 percentage points) and educational services (1.28 percentage points). Meanwhile, a decline were mainly in the Manufacturing Industry (1.15 percentage points) and Construction (0.92 percentage points).
There are 656,634 people (64.59 percent) work in formal activities, a decrease of 5.84 percentage points compared to August 2019. Meanwhile, the percentage of informal workers has increased by 5.84 percentage points.
There are 288,549 people (16.87 percent of the working age population) who have been affected by Covid-19. Consisting of unemployment due to Covid-19 (42,210 people), BAK due to Covid-19 (8,587 people), temporary unemployment due to Covid-19 (12,568 people), and working residents who experience reduced working hours due to Covid-19 (225,184 people) .
