Abstract

In September 2020, the number of poor people (residents with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Kepulauan Riau Province reached 142,611 people (6.13 percent), an increase of 10,645 people compared to March 2020, which was 131,966 people ( 5.92 percent).

The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2020 was 5.42 percent, increasing to 5.69 percent in September 2020. Meanwhile, the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2020 was 10.43 percent, experiencing an increase to 11.25 percent in September. 2020.

During the period March 2020-September 2020, the number of poor people in urban areas increased from 108,859 people in March 2020 to 121,823 people in September 2020, while in rural areas it decreased from 23,107 people in March 2020 to 20,788 people in September 2020.

The role of food commodities on the Poverty Line is much greater than that of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education and health). The contribution of the food poverty line to the poverty line in September 2020 was recorded at 66.52 percent. This condition is not much different from the condition in March 2020, which is 66.73 percent
