Abstract

The number of the workforce in August 2021 was 1 207 014 people, an increase of 73 238 people compared to August 2020. In line with the increase in the number of the workforce, the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) also increased by 1.99 percentage points.

The August 2021 Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) was 9.91 percent, down 0.43 percentage point compared to August 2020.

The working population is 1 087 419 people, an increase of 70 819 people from August 2020. Employment fields that experienced the largest percentage increase were the Manufacturing Industry Sector (2.25 percentage points) and the Health Services and Social Activities Sector (0.36 percentage points). Meanwhile, the sectors that experienced the biggest decline were the Other Services Sector (1.48 percent point) and Transportation and Warehousing (0.80 percent point).

A total of 382 824 people (35.20 percent) worked in informal activities, down 0.21 percentage point compared to August 2020.

The percentage of underemployed increased by 0.42 percentage point, while the percentage of part-time workers increased by 3.23 percentage point compared to August 2020.

There are 209 506 people (11.85 percent of the working age population) affected by COVID-19. Consists of unemployment due to COVID-19 (41 275 people), Non-Working Forces (BAK) due to COVID-19 (5 889 people), temporarily not working due to COVID-19 (11 698 people), and working residents experiencing reduced working hours due to COVID-19 (150 644 people)
