Abstract

In April 2022, the CPI of the Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 1.09 percent. Inflation occurred due to the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 108.07 in March 2022 to 109.25 in April 2022. Inflation for the calendar year (January–April) 2022 was 2.06 percent. Year-on-year inflation (March 2022 to April 2021) was 4.28 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in the Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City experienced inflation of 1.12 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation of 0.84 percent.

Inflation that occurred in the Kepulauan Riau Province was due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index of the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group, which increased by 2.36 percent; clothing and footwear group increased by 0.17 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups increased by 0.25 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group increased by 0.33 percent; transportation group increased by 1.66 percent; recreation, sports and culture groups increased by 0.17 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant supply group increased by 1.13 percent; and the personal care and other services group rose 0.47 percent. Meanwhile, the health group experienced a decrease of 0.17 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that did not change were the information, communication, and financial services groups; and education groups.
