Labor Force Situation in Kepulauan Riau Province, February 2022

Abstract

The total workforce in February 2022 was 1,057,918 people, with an increase in the Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) of 0.08 percentage points compared to February 2021.
  • The Open Unemployment Rate (TPT) in February 2022 was 8.02 percent, down 2.10 percentage points compared to February 2021 and still high compared to February 2020 (5.98)
  • The working population is 973,125 people. Employment absorption in February 2022 is still dominated by three main jobs, namely processing industry 24.54 percent, wholesale and retail trade 20.09 percent, and government administration, education and health services 12.95 percent.
  • Most of the population who work according to their main job status are laborers/employees/employees 62.57 percent, followed by self-employed 15.46 percent. In February 2022, the contribution of the population working as laborers/employees experienced the sharpest increase, while the contribution of the population working as self-employed experienced the sharpest decline. This identifies an improvement in the labor market through the transition of the informal sector to the formal sector.
  • There are 102,035 people (6.41 percent of the working age population) affected by COVID-19. Consisting of unemployment due to COVID-19 (14,704 people), Non-Working Force (BAK) due to COVID-19 (5,282 people), temporarily not working due to COVID-19 (7,201 people), and working residents who experienced a reduction in working hours due to COVID-19 19 (74,848 people
