Poverty Profile of Kepulauan Riau Province March 2022

Abstract

In March 2022, the number of poor people (people with monthly per capita expenditure below the Poverty Line) in the Kepulauan Riau Province reached 151.68 thousand people (6.24 percent), an increase of 13.9 thousand people compared to September 2021 which was 137, 75 thousand people (5.75 percent).
  • The percentage of poor people in urban areas in September 2021 was 5.37 percent, rising to 5.68 percent in March 2022. In addition, the percentage of poor people in rural areas in September 2021 of 10.45 percent also rose to 10.68 percent in March 2022.
  • During the period September 2021-March 2022, the number of poor people in urban areas rose from 119.31 thousand people in September 2021 to 122.60 thousand people in March 2022. In addition, in rural areas it also rose from 18.44 thousand people in September 2021 to 29 .08 thousand in March 2022.
  • The role of food commodities on the Poverty Line is much greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). The contribution of the Food Poverty Line to the Poverty Line in March 2022 was recorded at 67.01 percent. This condition is not much different from the conditions in September 2021, which was 66.19 percent.
