Abstract

In July 2022, the CPI of the Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.61 percent. Inflation occurred due to the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 111.06 in June 2022 to 111.74 in July 2022. Inflation for the calendar year (January–July) 2022 was 4.38 percent. Year-on-year inflation (July 2022 to July 2021) was 6.09 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in the Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City experienced inflation of 0.61 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation of 0.66 percent.
Inflation that occurred in the Kepulauan Riau Province occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group, which increased by 0.53 percent; clothing and footwear group increased by 0.17 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups increased by 0.19 percent; the health group increased by 0.06 percent; the transportation group increased by 3.62 percent; and recreation, sports, and culture groups increased by 0.04 percent. Meanwhile, the groups that experienced a decline were: equipment, equipment, and routine household maintenance groups decreased by 0.05 percent; the information, communication, and financial services group decreased by 0.37 percent; and the personal care and other services group fell by 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that did not change were the education group and the food and beverage/restaurant supply group.
