Abstract

In July 2023, the combined 2 cities in Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 2.29 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 114.30. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 111.74 in July 2022 to 114.30 in July 2023.

The combined yoy inflation of 2 cities in Kepulauan Riau occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose by 0.91 percent; the clothing and footwear group increased by 2.80 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose by 2.12 percent; the household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group rose by 1.43 percent; the health group rose by 0.41 percent; transportation group rose by 7.14 percent; information, communication, and financial services group rose by 0.37 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group rose by 0.99 percent; education group rose by 2.82 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group rose by 0.44 percent; and personal care and other services group rose by 4.46 percent.

The month to month (mtm) inflation rate in July 2023 was 0.27 percent. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 113.99 in June 2023 to 114.30 in July 2023.

Of the 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 2.40 percent, and Tanjungpinang City of 1.47 percent.
