Consumer Price Index of Kepulauan Riau Province in February 2020

In February 2020, Kepulauan Riau Province's CPI (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed deflation of 0.16 percent. Deflation occurred due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index from 103.65 in January 2020 to 103.48 in February 2020. Inflation in the calendar year (January to February 2020) was 0.02 percent. Year-on-year inflation (February 2020 against February 2019) of 1.47 percent. From 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, it is recorded that Batam City and Tanjungpinang City experienced deflation of 0.15 percent and 0.19 percent respectively.

Viewed from the group, the deflation that occurred in February 2020 was caused by a decrease in the index of 3 groups namely: the transportation group experienced a decrease of 2.50 percent; the household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance group fell by 0.34 percent; and the recreation, sports and culture group fell 0.01 percent. On the contrary there were 3 groups that experienced an increase namely the food, beverage and tobacco group increased by 0.51 percent; the personal care and other services group rose by 0.35 percent; and the health group rose by 0.01 percent. While the other 5 groups did not experience changes in the price index.
