Consumer Price Index of Kepulauan Riau Province in February 2021

In February 2021, the Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) CPI showed deflation of 0.60 percent. Deflation occurred due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index from 105.38 in January 2021 to 104.75 in February 2021. Inflation for the calendar year (January to February 2020) was 0.07 percent. Year-on-year inflation (February 2021 against February 2020) is 1.23 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in the Kepulauan Riau Province, it was recorded that Batam City and Tanjungpinang City experienced deflation of 0.60 percent and 0.59 percent, respectively.

In terms of category, the deflation that occurred in February 2021 was due to a fall in the index for four groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group, which fell by 2.01 percent; the personal care and other services group fell by 1.14 percent; clothing and pedestal groups legs dropped by 0.08 percent; as well as the equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group which fell by 0.01 percent. On the other hand, four groups experienced an increase, namely: the health group increased by 1.35 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group increased by 0.49 percent; the transportation group increased by 0.29 percent; and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group increased by 0.03 percent. Meanwhile, the other three groups did not experience changes in the price index.
