Consumer Price Index of Kepulauan Riau Province in May 2020

In May 2020, the Kepulauan Riau Province's CPI (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.15 percent. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index from 103.11 in April 2020 to 103.26 in May 2020. Inflation in the calendar year (January to May 2020) was -0.19 percent. Year-on-year inflation (May 2020 against May 2019) was 0.52 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City recorded inflation of 0.16 percent, while Tanjung Pinang City experienced inflation of 0.01 percent.

Viewed from the group, inflation that occurred in May 2020 was caused by an increase in the index of 5 groups namely: transportation groups rose by 2.42 percent; the personal care and other services group rose by 0.57 percent; health group increased by 0.17 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group increased by 0.03 percent; and clothing and footwear group increased by 0.02 percent. On the contrary, there were 2 groups that experienced a decrease, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group decreased by 0.65 percent; and household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance decreased by 0.03 percent. While the other 4 groups did not experience changes in the price index.
