Consumer Price Index of Kepulauan Riau Province in August 2020

In August 2020, the CPI for the Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.04 percent. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index from 103.20 in July 2020 to 103.24 in August 2020. Inflation for the calendar year (January 2020) was -0.21 percent. Year-on-year inflation (August 2020 against August 2019) is -0.30 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in the Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City experienced inflation of 0.02 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation of 0.12 percent.

Judging from the group, inflation that occurred in August 2020 was caused by an increase in 8 groups, namely: the personal care and other services group increased by 2.46 percent; the education group increased by 2.30 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group increased by 0.39 percent; the health group increased by 0.23 percent; the transportation group increased by 0.23 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuels group increased by 0.09 percent; equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group increased by 0.08; and the clothing and footwear group increased by 0.02 percent. On the other hand, the food, beverages and tobacco group experienced a decline of 1.17 percent. Meanwhile, the other 2 groups did not experience changes in the price index.
