Abstract

The Human Development Index (HDI) in 2021 has increased compared t0 the previous year. In 2021, the HDI of the Kepulauan Riau Province has reached 75.79, an increase of 0.20 points or 0.26 percent growth compared to the achievement in 2020.

The increase in the 2021 HDI is supported by an increase in two of its constituent dimensions, namely the dimensions of long life and healthy life and the dimensions of knowledge, while the dimensions of a decent standard of living as measured by the average real per capita expenditure (adjusted) still decreased by 0.61 percent.
In terms of the knowledge dimension, people aged 7 years have the hope of enjoying 12.98 years of education or equivalent to the length of time to occupy a Diploma I level of education. This figure is an increase of 0.11 years compared to 2020 which reached 12.87 years. In addition, the average length of schooling for residents aged 25 years and over also increased by 0.06 years, from 10.12 years to 10.18 years in 2021.
In terms of the dimensions of longevity and healthy living, babies born in 2021 have an expectation of being able to live up to 70.12 years, 0.16 years longer than babies born in the previous year.
