Abstract

In September 2022, the CPI of Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam Municipality and Tanjungpinang Municipality) showed inflation of 1.06 percent. Inflation occurred due to the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 111.18 in August 2022 to 112.36 in September 2022. Inflation for the calendar year (January–September) 2022 was 4.96 percent. Year-on-year inflation (September 2022 to September 2021) is 6.79 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam Municipality experienced inflation of 1.08 percent, and Tanjungpinang Municipality experienced inflation of 0.92 percent.
Inflation that occurred in Kepulauan Riau Province occurred due to a sharp increase in prices indicated by the increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: food group, beverages and tobacco increased by 0.28 percent; housing group, water, electricity, and household fuel increased by 0.10 percent; group household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance increased by 0.32 percent; the health group increased by 0.02 percent; transportation group increased by 6.98 percent; information, communication and financial services group increased by 0.13 percent; the education group increased by 1.46 percent; as well as the food and beverage/restaurant supply group increased by 0.10 percent. While the clothing and footwear group decreased by 0.26 percent; and personal care and other services group decreased by 0.34 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that did not change, namely: recreation, sports, and cultural groups.
