Abstract

In October 2023, the combined 2 cities in Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 2.46 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 115.04. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 112.28 in October 2022 to 115.04 in October 2023.

The combined yoy inflation of 2 cities in Kepulauan Riau occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group increased by 4.81 percent; the clothing and footwear group increased by 3.91 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group increased by 1.46 percent; the household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group increased by 0.84 percent; the health group increased by 0.42 percent; the information, communication, and financial services group rose by 0.21 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group rose by 0.76 percent; the education group rose by 2.80 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant supply group rose by 0.65 percent; and the personal care and other services group rose by 4.75 percent.

The month to month (mtm) inflation rate in October 2023 was 0.33 percent. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 114.66 in September 2023 to 115.04 in October 2023.

Of the 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Islands Province, Batam City experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 2.53 percent, and Tanjungpinang City of 1.95 percent.
