Abstract

In January 2024, Kepulauan Riau Province experienced year on year (y-on-y) inflation of 3.38 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.69. The highest inflation occurred in Batam City at 3.55 percent with a CPI of 105.96 and the lowest occurred in Tanjungpinang City at 2.45 percent with a CPI of 104.53. While Karimun Regency inflation amounted to 3.27 percent with a CPI of 104.91.

Y-on-y inflation in Kepulauan Riau Province occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in ten expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose by 6.96 percent; the clothing and footwear group increased by 2.41 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose by 1.57 percent; the household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group rose by 0.57 percent; health group rose by 3.06 percent; transportation group rose by 3.11 percent; recreation, sports and culture group rose by 0.17 percent; education group rose by 2.58 percent; food and beverage supply/restaurant group rose by 0.98 percent; and personal care and other services group rose by 3.73 percent. While one expenditure group experienced a decrease in the index, namely: the information, communication and financial services group by 0.01 percent.

The month to month (m-to-m) inflation rate and the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate of Kepulauan Riau Province in January 2024 amounted to 0.51 percent, inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 105.15 in December 2023 to 105.69 in January 2024.
