Abstract

In March 2024, Riau Islands Province experienced year on year (y-on-y) inflation of 3.37 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.94. The highest inflation occurred in Batam City at 3.56 percent with a CPI of 106.12 and the lowest occurred in Karimun Regency at 2.57 percent with a CPI of 105.61. Meanwhile, Tanjungpinang City had inflation of 2.68 percent with a CPI of 104.98.
Y-on-y inflation in Riau Islands Province occurred due to price increases as indicated by the increase in nine expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose by 6.38 percent; the clothing and footwear group increased by 3.35 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose by 0.98 percent; the household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group rose by 0.23 percent; the health group rose by 3.53 percent; the transportation group rose by 4.33 percent; the education group rose by 2.49 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group rose by 1.03 percent; and the personal care and other services group rose by 4.34 percent. While the expenditure groups that experienced a decrease in the index, namely: the information, communication and financial services group by 0.02 percent; and the recreation, sports and culture group fell by 0.35 percent.
The month to month (m-to-m) inflation rate of Riau Islands Province in March 2024 was 0.46 percent, inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 105.46 in February 2024 to 105.94 in March 2024. While the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 0.75 percent.
