Consumer Price Index of Kepulauan Riau Province in January 2020

In January 2020, Kepulauan Riau Province's CPI (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.18 percent. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index from 103.46 in December 2019 to 103.65 in January 2020. Year-on-year inflation (January 2020 against January 2020) was 1.75 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, it is recorded that Batam City and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation of 0.16 percent and 0.36 percent respectively.

 

In terms of groups, inflation in January 2020 was caused by an increase in the index of 6 groups namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group increased by 0.69 percent; the personal care and other services group rose by 0.60 percent; clothing and footwear group increased by 0.13 percent; the health group rose by 0.12 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuels group increased by 0.04 percent; and household equipment and routine maintenance groups increased by 0.01 percent. Conversely the transportation group experienced a decrease of 0.50 percent. Whereas information, communication and financial services group; recreational, sports and cultural groups; education group; and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group did not experience changes in the price index.
