Abstract

In November 2020, the CPI for the Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.35 percent. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index from 103.24 in October 2020 to 103.60 in November 2020. Inflation for the calendar year (January to November 2020) was 0.14 percent. Year-on-year inflation (November 2020 against November 2019) is 0.79 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in the Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City experienced inflation of 0.32 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation of 0.53 percent.
Inflation that occurred in November 2020 was caused by an increase in 5 groups, namely: the transportation group increased by 1.65 percent; the food, beverages and tobacco group increased by 0.71 percent; the equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group increased by 0.23 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuel group increased by 0.09 percent; and the information, communication and financial services group increased by 0.01 percent. On the other hand, 4 groups experienced a decline, namely the personal care and other services group, which decreased by 0.91 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group fell by 0.37 percent; the clothing and footwear group decreased by 0.12 percent; and the health group fell by 0.05 percent.
