Consumer Price Index of Kepulauan Riau Province in April 2020

In April 2020, Kepulauan Riau Province's CPI (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.04 percent. Inflation occurred due to the increase in the Consumer Price Index from 103.07 in March 2020 to 103.11 in April 2020. Inflation in the calendar year (January to April 2020) was -0.34 percent. Year-on-year inflation (April 2020 against April 2019) of 1.00 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City recorded an inflation of 0.07 percent, while Tanjungpinang City experienced deflation of 0.23 percent.

Viewed from the group, inflation that occurred in April 2020 was caused by an increase in the index of 3 groups namely: the group of personal care and other services rose by 2.91 percent; the food, beverage and tobacco group increased by 0.16 percent; and the health group rose by 0.01 percent. Conversely, there were 2 groups that experienced a decline, namely: the information, communication and financial services group decreased by 1.49 percent; and transportation groups decreased by 0.89 percent. While the other 6 groups did not experience changes in the price index.
