Abstract

In December 2020, the CPI for the Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 1.04 percent. Inflation occurred due to the increase in the Consumer Price Index from 103.60 in November 2020 to 104.68 in December 2020. Inflation for calendar year and year-on-year inflation in December were of the same value, namely 1.18 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in the Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City experienced inflation of 1.05 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation of 0.98 percent.

Judging from the group, inflation that occurred in December 2020 was caused by an increase in 6 groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group increased by 2.67 percent; the transportation group increased by 2.29 percent; the equipment, tools, and household routine maintenance group increased by 0.39 percent; the clothing and footwear group increased by 0.11 percent; the recreation, sports, and culture group increased by 0.03 percent; and the food and beverage / restaurant supply group increased by 0.01 percent. On the other hand, 2 groups experienced a decrease, namely the health group which decreased by 0.29 percent; and the personal care and other services group fell by 0.24 percent.
