Economic growth of Kepulauan Riau Province in the First Quarter of 2022

Abstract

The economy of the Kepulauan Riau Province in the first quarter of 2022 as measured by Gross Regional Domestic Product (GRDP) at current prices (ADHB) reached Rp72.51 trillion and at constant prices (ADHK) reached Rp45.82 trillion.

The Kepulauan Riau Province economy in the first quarter of 2022 (y-on-y) grew by 2.83 percent. In terms of business sector, growth in this quarter was driven by the Manufacturing Industry category which contributed to growth of 1.74 percent and the Wholesale and Retail Trade categories; Repair of Cars and Motorcycles which contributed to the growth of 1.34 percent. From the expenditure side, the Net Export Component contributed 2.10 percent to growth and the PK-RT Component contributed 0.51 percent.

The economy of the Kepulauan Riau Province in the first quarter of 2022 compared to the fourth quarter of 2021 (q-to-q) experienced a contraction of 3.41 percent. From the production side, the economic contraction was mainly caused by the mining and quarrying category with a contraction share of 1.23 percent, followed by the manufacturing industry category with a contraction share of 1.18 percent. Meanwhile, from the expenditure side, the Government Consumption Expenditure component contributed to the largest contraction at 5.52 percent, followed by the PMTB component with a contraction share of 0.14 percent.

In the regional scope, the GRDP of the Kepulauan Riau Province \in the first quarter of 2022 contributed 7.37 percent to the GRDP of the Island of Sumatra.
