Abstract

In September 2022, the number of poor people (people with per capita expenditure per month below the Poverty Line) in Kepulauan Riau Province reached 148.89 thousand people (6.03 percent), a decrease of 2.79 thousand people compared to the March 2022 condition of 151.68 thousand people (6.24 percent).

The percentage of poor people in urban areas in March 2022 was 5.68 percent, decreasing to 5.46 percent in September 2022. In addition, the percentage of poor people in rural areas in March 2022 amounted to 10.68 percent and also fell to 10.63 percent in September 2022.

During the March 2022-September 2022 period, the number of poor people in urban areas fell from 122.60 thousand people in March 2022 to 119.52 thousand people in September 2022. In contrast, in rural areas, it rose from 29.08 thousand people in March 2022 to 29.37 thousand in September 2022.

The role of food commodities in the poverty line is much greater than the role of non-food commodities (housing, clothing, education, and health). The contribution of the food poverty line to the poverty line in September 2022 was recorded at 67.25 percent. This condition is not much different from the condition in March 2022, which amounted to 67.00 percent.
