Abstract

In February 2023, a combination of 2 cities in Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 5.79 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.55. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 107.34 in February 2022 to 113.55 in February 2023.
The combined yoy inflation for 2 cities in Kepulauan Riau occurred due to price increases as indicated by an increase in the expenditure group index, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group increased by 9.07 percent; the clothing and footwear group experienced an increase of 2.63 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group increased by 2.55 percent; equipment, equipment and routine household maintenance increased by 3.43 percent; the health group increased by 0.34 percent; the transportation group increased by 12.94 percent; the information, communication and financial services group increased by 0.13 percent; the recreation, sports and culture group increased by 2.19 percent; the education group increased by 2.82 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant provision group increased by 2.14 percent; as well as the personal care and other services group rose by 6.21 percent.
The February 2023 month-to-month (mtm) inflation rate was 0.47 percent. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 113.02 in January 2023 to 113.55 in February 2023.
Of the 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, it was recorded that Batam City experienced year on year (yoy) inflation of 5.93 percent, and Tanjungpinang City of 4.69 percent.
