Abstract

The Gender Inequality Index (GII) of Kepulauan Riau Province in 2022 amounted to 0.395, an increase of 0.008 points compared to 2021 which amounted to 0.387.
  • The increase in the Gender Inequality Index (GIQ) was mainly influenced by an increase in the indicator of the proportion of ever-married women aged 15-49 years who at the time of their first live birth were <20 years old (MHPK20) in the reproductive health dimension, as well as a decrease in the indicator of the percentage of the female population with at least high school education in the empowerment dimension, and a decrease in the indicator of the female Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK) in the labor market dimension.
  • MHPK20 increased from 0.115 in 2021 to 0.125 in 2022.
  • The decline in the empowerment dimension is influenced by a decrease in the indicator of the percentage of women 25 years and over who have a high school education and above.  The percentage of women fell from 59.20 percent in 2021 to 58.40 percent in 2022, while the percentage of men increased from 60.43 percent in 2021 to 60.73 percent in 2022. Meanwhile, the percentage of women in the legislature has not changed from 2021.
  • The decline in the labor market dimension was influenced by a decrease in the female Labor Force Participation Rate (TPAK), which fell from 51.92 percent in 2021 to 50.68 percent in 2022.
