Abstract

In February 2024, Riau Islands Province experienced year on year (y-on-y) inflation of 2.65 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 105.46. The highest inflation occurred in Batam City at 2.77 percent with a CPI of 105.64 and the lowest occurred in Karimun Regency at 1.94 percent with a CPI of 105.05. Meanwhile, Tanjungpinang City had inflation of 2.33 percent with a CPI of 104.61.
Y-on-y inflation in Riau Islands Province occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in ten expenditure group indices, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group rose by 4.00 percent; the clothing and footwear group increased by 2.37 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group rose by 0.93 percent; the household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group rose by 0.59 percent; health group rose by 3.25 percent; transportation group rose by 4.62 percent; recreation, sports and culture group rose by 0.26 percent; education group rose by 2.49 percent; food and beverage supply/restaurant group rose by 0.99 percent; and personal care and other services group rose by 3.81 percent. While one expenditure group experienced a decrease in the index, namely: the information, communication and financial services group by 0.01 percent.
The month to month (m-to-m) deflation rate of Riau Islands Province in February 2024 amounted to 0.22 percent, deflation occurred due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 105.69 in January 2024 to 105.46 in February 2024. While the year to date (y-to-d) inflation rate was 0.29 percent.
