The CPI of Kepulauan Riau Province showed defflation of 0.42 percent

In August 2021, the CPI of Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed a deflation of 0.42 percent. Deflation occurred due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 105.33 to 104.89 in August 2021. Calendar year inflation (January–August) 2021 was 0.20 percent and year-on-year inflation (August 2021 versus August 2020) was 1 ,60 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in the Riau Archipelago Province, Batam City experienced a deflation of 0.44 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced a deflation of 0.32 percent.
The number of foreign tourist visits or foreign tourists to Kepulauan Riau Province during July 2021 was recorded at 161 visits. This means a decrease of 40.59 percent compared to the previous month, where in June 2021 there were 271 visits. Meanwhile, when compared to July 2020, there was an increase of 93.98 percent.
In August 2021, the NTP of Kepulauan Riau Province was recorded at 104.26 or decreased by 1.41 percent compared to the NTP in July 2021.
The number of domestic air transport passengers in July 2021 who departed from Kepulauan Riau Province was 48,805 people or decreased by 60.67 percent from June 2021. Meanwhile, there were no international air transport passengers departing in July 2021.
