U-TALK Dialogue: Health Groups as One of the Causes of Inflation in the Kepulauan Riau Province
On Wednesday, March 13 2024, the Head of BPS-Statistics Kepulauan Riau Province, Darwis Sitorus, was present as a resource person along with Deputy Director of RSUD Ahmad Tabib, Sulastri and Public Policy Observer, Alfiandri in the U-TALK dialogue program by Ulasan-TV which raised the topic "One of the Causes Inflation in Riau Islands, High Medical Costs and Medicines in Hospitals".
In this dialogue which was broadcast live on YouTube Official UTV, Darwis said that the inflation that occurred in January 2024 in the Kepulauan Riau Province generally showed that the health group was one of the triggers for inflation with a contribution of 0.08 percent of the Inflation figure for the Kepulauan Riau Province, namely amounting to 0.51 percent. Inflation in the health group itself was 3.27 percent compared to the previous month and yoy, namely 3.05 percent compared to January 2023. Apart from that, he also said that the inflation that occurred in the health group was closely related to the increase in service rates.
Inflation calculations were carried out through the Cost of Living Survey in 3 Inflation cities in the Kepulauan Riau Province, namely Tanjungpinang City, Batam City and Karimun Regency. This calculation is divided into 11 commodity groups including food, clothing, housing, health, education, household equipment, transportation, information and communication, recreation, provision of food and drink, and personal care.
