Consumer Price Index of Kepulauan Riau Province in July 2020

In July 2020, CPI of Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed deflation of 0.11 percent. Deflation occurred due to a decrease in the Consumer Price Index from 103.31 in June 2020 to 103.20 in July 2020. Inflation in the calendar year (January to July 2020) was -0.25 percent. Year-on-year inflation (July 2020 against July 2019) was -0.33 percent. The two of CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City recorded a deflation of 0.17 percent, while Tanjung Pinang City experienced inflation of 0.32 percent.

Viewed from the group, deflation that occurred in June 2020 was caused by the decrease in the transportation group index by 1.60 percent. Conversely, there were 6 groups that experienced increases: personal care and other services rose by 0.91 percent; the household appliances, equipment and routine maintenance group increased by 0.40; health group increased by 0.12 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group increased by 0.05 percent; housing, water, electricity and household fuels increased 0.02 percent; and the food, beverage and tobacco group increased by 0.01 percent. While the other 4 groups did not experience changes in the price index.
