Abstract

In July 2021, the CPI of the Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.43 percent. Inflation occurred due to the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 104.88 in June 2021 to 105.33 in July 2021. Inflation calendar year (January–July) 2021 at 0.62 percent Year-on-year inflation (July 2021 to July 2020) is 2.06 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in the Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City experienced inflation of 0.45 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced an inflation of 0.36 percent.
Inflation that occurred in the Kepulauan Riau was due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco by 1.48 percent; clothing and footwear group by 0.33 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups by 0.14 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group by 0.24 percent; health group by 0.09 percent; and the information, communication, and financial services group by 0.01 percent. Expenditure groups experiencing deflation, namely: transportation group by 0.27 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups by 0.03 percent; and the personal care and other services group by 0.28 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that did not change were: the education group; and groups providing food and beverages/restaurants.
