Consumer Price Index of Kepulauan Riau Province in September 2021

In September 2021, the CPI of Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.31 percent. Inflation occurred due to the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 104.89 in August 2021 to 105.31 in September 2021. Inflation for the calendar year (January–September) 2021 was 0.52 percent. Year-on-year inflation (September 2021 against September 2020) was 2.07 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in the Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City experienced inflation of 0.33 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced 0.19 percent inflation.

Inflation that occurred in the Kepulauan Riau was due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: food, beverages and tobacco, an increase of 0.78 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups increased by 0.02 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group increased by 0.05 percent; the health group increased by 0.10 percent; the information, communication, and financial services group increased by 0.01 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups increased by 0.05 percent; the education group increased by 1.43 percent; and the personal care and other services group rose 0.11 percent. Expenditure groups experiencing deflation, namely: clothing and footwear, decreased by 0.05 percent; and the transportation group decreased by 0.06 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that did not change was the food and beverage/restaurant supply group
