Abstract

In October 2020, the CPI for Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.15 percent. Inflation occurred due to the increase in the Consumer Price Index from 103.09 in September 2020 to 103.24 in October 2020. Inflation for the calendar year (January to October 2020) was -0.21 percent. Year-on-year inflation (October 2020 against October 2019) is 0.45 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City experienced inflation of 0.13 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation of 0.37 percent.

Judging from the category, the inflation that occurred in October 2020 was caused by an increase in 2 groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group, which increased by 0.98 percent; and the recreation, sports, and culture group increased by 0.01 percent. In contrast, 7 groups experienced a decrease, namely the personal care and other services group, which decreased by 0.82 percent; the transportation group decreased by 0.40 percent; the equipment, tools and routine household maintenance group fell by 0.19 percent; clothing and footwear group decreased by 0.06 percent; the health group fell by 0.05 percent; the housing, water, electricity, and household fuels group fell by 0.02 percent; and the information, communication and financial services group fell by 0.01 percent
