Abstract

In May 2021, the CPI of the Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.24 percent. Inflation occurs due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index from 104.77 in April 2021 to 105.02 in May 2021. Calendar year inflation (January to May 2021) of 0.32 percent. Year-on-year inflation (May 2021 versus May 2020) by 1.70 percent. From 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City recorded inflation of 0.26 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation of 0.03 percent.
Viewed from the group, inflation that occurred in May 2021 This was due to the increase in the index of six groups, namely: personal care and other services groups increased by 0.95 percent; transportation group increased by 0.69 percent; equipment, equipment, and routine maintenance groups households increased by 0.48 percent; clothing group and footwear increased by 0.46 percent; food group, beverages and tobacco increased by 0.13 percent; and the health group rose by 0.01 percent. While five other groups, namely housing, water, electricity, and household fuel; information, communication, and financial services; recreation, sports, and cultural groups; education group; food supply group and drinks/restaurants; there is no change in the price index
