CPI Development of Kepulauan Riau Province March 2022

In March 2022, the CPI of the Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Kota Tanjungpinang) shows inflation of 0.68 percent. Inflation occurs because increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 107.34 in February 2022 to 108.07 in March 2022. Inflation for the calendar year (January–March) 2022 was 0.95 percent. Year-on-year inflation (March 2022 to March 2021) of 3.24 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in the Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City is recorded as experienced inflation of 0.73 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation by 0.36 percent.

Inflation that occurred in the Kepulauan Riau was due to a sharp increase in prices indicated by the increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: food group, beverages and tobacco increased by 1.12 percent; clothing group and footwear increased by 0.41 percent; housing, water, electricity and materials groups household fuels increased by 0.22 percent; equipment group, equipment and routine household maintenance increased by 0.84 percent; group health increased by 0.10 percent; transportation group rose by 1.02 percent; food and beverage/restaurant supply group increased by 0.11 percent; and personal care and other services group rose by 1.75 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure group that did not change, namely: information, communication, and financial services group; recreational groups, sports, and culture; and education groups.
