Abstract

In June 2022, the CPI of Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) showed inflation of 0.84 percent. Inflation occurred due to the increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 110.14 in May 2022 to 111.06 in June 2022. Inflation for the calendar year (January–June) 2022 was 3.75 percent. Year-on-year inflation (June 2022 versus June 2021) was 5.89 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City experienced inflation of 0.84 percent, and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation of 0.80 percent.

Inflation that occurred in Kepulauan Riau Province was due to an increase in prices as indicated by an increase in the index of the expenditure group, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group, which increased by 2.18 percent; housing, water, electricity, and household fuel groups increased by 0.05 percent; household equipment, equipment and routine maintenance group increased by 0.48 percent; transportation group increased by 0.93 percent; the information, communication, and financial services group increased by 0.10 percent; recreation, sports, and culture groups increased by 0.08 percent; the food and beverage/restaurant supply group increased by 0.23 percent; and the personal care and other services group rose 0.10 percent. Meanwhile, the clothing and footwear group decreased by 0.01 percent. Meanwhile, the expenditure groups that did not change were the health group and the education group.
