Abstract

In December 2022, Kepulaua Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) experienced year-on-year (YoY) inflation of 5.83 percent with a Consumer Price Index (CPI) of 113.29. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 107.05 in December 2021 to 113.29 in December 2022.

Inflation that occurred in Riau Islands occurred due to an increase in prices as indicated by the increase in the index of expenditure groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group increased by 7.40 percent; the clothing and footwear group increased by 1.43 percent; the housing, water, electricity and household fuel group increased by 2.04 percent; the household supplies, equipment and routine maintenance group increased by 4.93 percent; health group rose by 0.31 percent; transportation group rose by 16.93 percent; recreation, sports, and culture group rose by 2.22 percent; education group rose by 2.77 percent; food and beverage supply/restaurant group rose by 3.81 percent; and personal care and other services group rose by 6.32 percent. Meanwhile, the information, communication, and financial services group decreased by 0.30 percent.

The month-to-month (MtM) inflation rate in December 2022 was 1.11 percent. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index (CPI) from 112.05 in November 2022 to 113.29 in December 2022.

Of the 2 CPI cities in Riau Islands Province, Batam City experienced year-on-year (YoY) inflation of 5.95 percent, and Tanjungpinang City of 4.96 percent.
