Abstract

In March 2023, the level of expenditure inequality of the Kepulauan Riau Province population as measured by the Gini Ratio was 0.340. This figure increased by 0.015 points compared to the September 2022 Gini Ratio of 0.325.

The Gini Ratio in urban areas in March 2023 was recorded at 0.339, an increase of 0.011 points compared to the September 2022 Gini Ratio of 0.328.

The Gini Ratio in rural areas in March 2023 was recorded at 0.248, down 0.016 points compared to the September 2022 Gini Ratio of 0.264.

During the period September 2022 - March 2023, the expenditure distribution of the bottom 40 percent of the population indicated a decline, from 20.53 percent in September 2022 to 20.04 percent in March 2023.

By region, the expenditure distribution of the bottom 40 percent in urban areas in the September 2022-March 2023 period decreased from 20.39 percent in September 2022 to 20.08 percent in March 2023. Different conditions occurred in rural areas, where the expenditure distribution of the bottom 40 percent of the population increased from 23.02 percent to 24.76 percent in that period.
