Consumer Price Index of Kepulauan Riau Province in January 2021

In January 2021, Kepulauan Riau Province (Batam City and Tanjungpinang City) CPI showed inflation of 0.67 percent. Inflation occurred due to an increase in the Consumer Price Index from 104.67 in December 2020 to 105.38 in January 2021. Year-on-year inflation (January 2021 against January 2020) was 1.67 percent. Of the 2 CPI cities in Kepulauan Riau Province, Batam City and Tanjungpinang City experienced inflation of 0.68 percent and 0.56 percent respectively.

In terms of category, the inflation that occurred in January 2021 was caused by an increase in the index for five groups, namely: the food, beverage and tobacco group, which increased by 2.63 percent; the food and beverage / restaurant supply group increased by 1.64 percent; the personal care and other services group increased by 0.41 percent; the clothing and footwear group increased by 0.18 percent and the equipment, tools and household routine maintenance group increased by 0.04 percent. On the other hand, two groups experienced a decline, namely: the transportation group which decreased by 2.10 percent; and the health group fell by 0.09 percent. Meanwhile, the other four groups did not experience changes in the price index.
